Farm Walk
A Farm walk followed by a
BBQ has been arranged to take place on Tuesday 6th May
2008 at 6.30pm.
The venue is Lady Fuller’s NESTAN
Herd of Pedigree Organic Jerseys. 120 plus Angus x Jerseys
and Belgian Blue x Jerseys.
The farm is situated on the
A365 road from Melksham to Bath.
The Farm Shop entrance
is on the right hand side in the village of Atworth.
To help with the catering please let Tony Gunn know if
you are able to attend by Saturday 3rd May.
Evening Race Meetings
Evening Race Meetings to be held at Newbury on the following
dates:
Saturday 31st May, Tuesday 24th June, Thursday
3rd July and Friday 11th July 2008.
Any members wishing to attend any of the Race Meetings
are asked to please make their own arrangements regarding
travel and meeting with other members.
CLUB 2008 AGM
Nomination for President Elect
The AGM of the Southern Jersey Cattle Club was held on
Tuesday 22nd April 2008. 19 people attended.
A proposal was put forward to the members in attendance
that the Southern Jersey Cattle Club should put forward
the name of Charles Rogers Coltman to become the next President
Elect. The members were 100% in favour.
The Southern Jersey Cattle Club Annual Lunch was held on Wednesday 5th December
2007.
Twenty-three people attended including The President of the Jersey Cattle
Society, Don Dawes and his wife, Una.
The Lunch was also attended by Mrs Sheila Knight, Secretary of The South Eastern
Jersey Cattle Club.
Visit to Beverly and Michael Clear's at Pierrepont Farm Frensham,
Surrey - Tuesday 12th June 2007
This farm is owned by The Countryside Restoration Trust. Twenty five members
of the Southern and Southeast Jersey Cattle Clubs were invited to view their
Jersey Cattle.
A competition to place six Jersey Cows in the nearest order as the master
Judge (Roma Gunn), I must thank Jill Bridger for her help in working out the
results.
The youngsters competition was first place Zoe Clear second place Harry Pink
and third place Patrick Clear.
The adult section was first place Jane Denly from Wickham Hants who with her
husband have a small Jersey Herd of three cows. In second place was the Southern
Club's Chairman Terry Stephens and third place was Tony the herdsman for Beverly
and Michael Clear. |
