Devon County Show
Island Breeder to Judge WJCB Pre-Conference
Show
We
look forward to welcoming Paul Houze to the Devon County Show
on Friday 16th May 2008 along with our guests from across the
world, and the Society anticipates a large entry of cattle
with strong competition in front of such an esteemed audience.
The schedule of classes will be confirmed in the next Breeders’ Brief
and work is progressing to raise sponsorship which will be
used to assist with travelling expenses for exhibitors.
Paul Houze is a third generation moved to specialist dairying
from a typical mixed Island enterprise in the past five years.
The Lodge Farm herd has 200 milking cows, wits100 followers.
Married to Annette, Paul has two children and lives at St
Saviours.
Paul is very interested in breed improvement and has recently
taken on the chairmanship of Jersey Island Genetics Ltd, having
already had thirty year association with the activities of
the RJA&HS.
Having travelled widely to the USA on five occasions, Canada
three times, South Africa, Denmark and throughout the UK in
pursuit of his interest in the Jersey breed, Paul exclaims “the
growth in the breed, worldwide, is fantastic. I am enthused
by the commitment on farms in the USA, in particular, no-one
could be anything other than impressed by their drive and determination.”
